Central Tzoumerka
National Park of Tzoumerka-Peristeri & Arachthos Gorge
The central and northern sections of Tzoumerka are the most trekked. The main village is Pramanta, and is almost the size of a small township. Between Pramanta and the villages of Syrrako and Kalarites in the more distant mountains are two valleys in which streams flow. You'll also find a large number of nature treks to waterfalls hidden in the mountains, such as the Louiassa springs trail, or the trail to waterfalls in the Matsouki cliffs valley. Numerous observation points offer amazing views of central Tsumerka, the most famous being the Agios Georgios lookout on the outskirts of Syrrako. The Arachtos River flows through Central Tsumerka, and is one of the largest and most famous in Greece. The Arachtos is fed by several locations in north Greece, producing a year round flow. River activities throughout the year include rafting and kayaking at different levels of difficulty. This part of Tsumerka is certainly worth 2 to 3 full days of your vacation time.
kouiassa springs, are water springs that include a magical walkway on the channel of the Calariticus River. The route with a slight difficulty, about an hour back, drive towards the village of Kalaritis and after crossing an iron bridge you will see the inscription for the start of the route by the road
kalarites - it is one of the most beautiful villages in Zzoumerka and only a few Greeks still live in it. Definitely worth wandering its picturesque alleys, which of you would like a longer walk, there is a two-hour course that also crosses a water channel and leads to the village of Syrako
Kipina monastery : constructed in 1212 in the honor of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, Kipina Monastery is one of the famous monasteries of Greece built in the rock and is in the road between Pramanta and kalarites
The Agios Georgios Observation is one of the most impressive sightings in the tzoumerka region and can be reached by traveling towards the village of Syrako.
Plaka Bridge on the Arachtos River, recently renovated after collapsing in February 2015 when it was the largest built stone bridge in the Balkans, On arrival, drive from the villages of Parmena and Aganda towards Ioannina.
The Kataraktis Waterfall one of the largest and most impressive waterfalls in Greece, is filled with water most often between April and July and also on very rainy days of other seasons On arrival, head towards the village of Aganda and continue following the signs towards the village of Kataraktis and follow the signs
The cliffs and waterfalls of Metsoki a small village built just below a high mountain ridge and a stream of water throughout the year, will connect you to the local life and use of water, the village dipping in the wild scenery, of the mountain ranges around it
Pramanta : Is the largest village in this part of Tzoumerka, in the village and its surroundings there are numerous hotels, taverns, cafes and more.
